Designed by the renowned Croatian architect Nikola Bašić and opened in 2005, the Sea Organ looks like an elegant flight of broad white stone stairs leading down into the sea. Hidden beneath these blocks of local marble is an ingenious system of 35 resonant tubes. As the sea breeze and waves push air into the pipes, it escapes through whistles carved into the top steps, generating deep, atmospheric chords that mirror the true pulse of the Adriatic.
